probably not if someone else in your travel group is bringing all of it ;) LOL.

I am scared of getting meds in China so I would prefer to have them, then I know what they are, can read all the instructions in english etc, and the boy scout in me wants to be prepared rather than scrambling in a country where I don't know the language :). :)

I think I saw this on a friend's blog. The air quality is really bad in China-do take visine/eye drops, moisturizer, cough drops, and saline nasal spray (unless you live in smog already, in which case you'll be fine-you will probably never see the sun anywhere in China unless there is a storm to blow the smog away temporarily).

Buy earplanes for your little one if you can. They're cheap, usually good for two flights. It will keep the air pressure from killing little ears and wailing on a long flight.

We didn't take hand sanitizer or penicillin. We did fill a prescription for something (beats me now what it was called) in case of stomach problems-didn't have to use it.

Our travel mate took a lot of snack food-we didn't, but it would have been smart to take some for those times you don't want to go out. Remember, hotels don't serve lunch. So it's a pain to take a new (to you) child out to a restaurant three times a day for food.

We only took my migraine meds and my daughter's thyroid meds, I think. No other OTC drugs.

Oh, and of course I always pack paperbacks that I buy used (maybe the Scottish thing again) so that I can toss them when I'm done reading and make room for stuff to come home.

Hope this helps!

P.S.-Chapstick would come in handy, too!

OK, I would say only take what you think you couldn't live without if you caught a cold/bug and of course what you think you'll need for the little one. Yulin takes really good care of you and I think if there were an emergency I would count on her to help you out and get you what you needed. Wish I had taken stock of what I would have left home so I could tell you for sure but I think everyone is different so you have to go with your own comfort level. We really did pack light when it came to ourselves and Helena. 3 pants, 3 shirts etc. We only had one pair of shoes each etc. Look at lots of lists to get an idea of what people thought was helpful. And I'd strongly suggest duct tape - we used that almost right after the first flight with a rip in a suitcase!!

I hardly took any of this... I did take a few things for her (Meds wise)... we packed very light for us as you can get laundry done in GZ... a pair of shoes... I have an allergy with smog... after 3 days I am out for the count so I was a little worried... I took 2 Tylenol a day (though I found Panadol over in China - they have the same in Australia so I knew what it was)... used the Saline wash up my nose morning and night - then sucked on a Halls as often as I could to keep away any infection... we didn't take alot cause you can buy alot of it in GZ... we only stayed in GZ though... we took the Dossier and didn't need it once... there is a safe in the rooms at the White Swan...
